Small TALK is Wellstar’s Pediatric Literacy Program that emphasizes the importance of talking, reading, singing, and playing with your child to promote early brain growth and development. It is never too early to start talking to your baby. They can hear you starting in the third trimester of pregnancy. Just as children need food to grow their bodies, they need loving words to grow their brains. This engagement leads to improved language and reading skills as families incorporate Small TALK principles into everyday moments.Below is a list of resources that you can use to understand what you can do to support your child’s development. Remember, you are your child’s first and best teacher and you have everything you need to help them.
