West Georgia Health Foundation
West Georgia Health Foundation raises charitable donations for vital priorities at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. Our current project is construction of the Center for Health & Wellbeing, which will house Outpatient Rehabilitation, a fitness center for the active aging population, a Hydroworx 2000 Aquatic Therapy Pool, a group therapy pool, an indoor/outdoor walking track, and space for group exercise and wellness classes.
Building Together for a Healthier Future
Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center is a strong and growing regional healthcare provider serving west Georgia and east Alabama that continually invests in facility improvements, new technologies and services designed to improve the health of our community. Patient revenues cannot fund all of these needs, so West Georgia Health Foundation was formed in 2004 to raise private donations for vital priorities.
Our first campaign raised $5.1 million for a new emergency department, and most recently $14 million was donated for renovation and expansion of Enoch Callaway Cancer Center. Today, we are raising $4 million to construct the Center for Health & Wellbeing at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, which will house outpatient rehabilitation, a fitness center for the active aging population, a Hydroworx 2000 Aquatic Therapy Pool, a group therapy pool, indoor/outdoor walking track, and space for group exercise and wellness classes.
Some area residents have given up on exercise and other healthy lifestyle choices. The Center for Health & Wellbeing's supportive environment will encourage them to make a fresh start and enjoy access to medical-grade fitness equipment, walking tracks, exercise classes, and health and wellness education sessions. This will ultimately lead to patients with fewer chronic health conditions and a healthier community.
West Georgia Health Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity and donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. West Georgia Health Foundation is an affiliate of the Wellstar Foundation.
Center for Health & Wellbeing
We all want to live to a ripe old age, but the health and vitality we desire for our senior years are the result of lifestyle choices made throughout adulthood. Fortunately, even those who start making healthy choices later in life can realize valuable benefits.
The Center for Health & Wellbeing at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center will bridge the gap between medicine and fitness, empowering those who don’t exercise due to physical or medical limitations to achieve long-term fitness and health goals.
The new facility will house Wellstar West Georgia’s Outpatient Rehabilitation, a medical fitness center with traditional and medically accessible equipment, Hydroworx 2000 Aquatic Therapy Pool, group activities pool, indoor/outdoor walking track, shower/dressing rooms, and group exercise and wellness education classes.
The medically supervised fitness center will offer personalized health coaching and explore lifestyle choices that could reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, hypertension, Type 2 diabetes, dementia, and other chronic health conditions.
The Hydroworx 2000 Aquatic Therapy Pool will allow for rehab earlier after injury or surgery and features a treadmill that raises for easy entry, resistance jets for deep tissue massage, and underwater cameras for enhanced diagnostics.
The Center for Health & Wellbeing will be unique in our area and a haven for individuals who have been left behind by fitness programs focusing on the healthy population. Please join us in support of the Center for Health & Wellbeing and help local residents create healthier lives.
Thank you so much for your support of the Center for Health & Wellbeing!
