About
Heart Care for Pregnant and Postpartum Women
For expectant mothers, awareness of blood pressure is an important aspect of their care. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, places pregnant women at a greater risk for heart disease or heart failure. If your Wellstar obstetrician diagnoses hypertension during a pre-natal visit or after you’ve given birth, they may advise lifestyle changes — including changes in diet, restricting alcohol and increasing exercise — and medication, when high blood pressure reaches a certain level.
Our Wellstar Perinatal Cardiology Clinic, a partnership between Women’s Health and Wellstar Center for Cardiovascular Care, provides expert, caring cardiac support for pregnant and postpartum women. If you are concerned about your blood pressure or have been advised by your doctor to seek heart care, please make an appointment now to see one of our physicians either in-person or virtually, online.
