Dr. Timothy Ryan is a board-certified otolaryngologist serving the Wellstar community since 2016. Providing comprehensive ear, nose, and throat care to both the pediatric and adult population. He delivers a focus in high quality and patient centered care, while employing a shared decision-making model. Dr. Ryan is regularly recognized in leading publications by his community and national peers as a ‘Top Doctor’ in both Castle Connolly and Atlanta Magazine.
He earned his medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School where he was inducted into both the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society. Moving to Georgia, he completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery locally at Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Ryan holds several leadership positions within Wellstar Health System. Most notably, as the Wellstar Medical Group Specialty Lead Physician for Ear, Nose, & Throat for the entire healthcare system. He currently oversees the service line across 7 medical centers, 4 health parks, and 13 clinic practices. Focusing on patient centered care in every community Wellstar serves. He was the Wellstar Douglas Medical Center Vice Chair for the Department of Surgery from 2021-2023 and will serve as Chair of Surgery from 2023-2025. He is clinical faculty for the Wellstar Graduate Education program and subspecialty education coordinator for Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center focusing on improving ear, nose, and throat care across all medical subspecialties. In addition, he is actively involved in system governing committees. Including the Surgeon Lead for the Wellstar Health System Quality Review Committee, Pediatric Medical Group Cabinet Committee, Surgical Clinical Informatics Committee, and the Wellstar Cancer Network Committee.
He has held community leadership positions and is involved in several local and national professional societies. Including, a past president of the Metro Atlanta Educational Society for Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Ryan is married with two children. He enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends. His hobbies include traveling, outdoor activities, and culinary experiences. As an avid Atlanta United fan, you can catch him at Mercedes Benz Stadium. He can often be heard saying that being kind and working hard are the key ingredients to personal success.
