The YWCA of Northwest Georgia Academy of Women Leaders recently honored Avril Beckford, M.D., chief pediatric officer, and WellStar Health System.
Dr. Beckford was named one of 15 Women of Achievement for 2012. She received this distinction for continuously demonstrating outstanding leadership in her personal and professional endeavors.
WellStar also received the Kathryn Woods Racial Justice Award, named after the first black YWCA board member, who served in the 1960s. Kim Menefee, senior vice president, Public and Government Affairs, accepted the award for the System.
“We serve a very diverse community of patients and families, and we’re proud our 12,000-member workforce reflects that diversity,” said Menefee.
