Caring for people is what Wellstar is all about. It’s easy to see the impact made by physicians, nurses and other clinical team members. But many others work beyond hospital walls to make compassionate care possible. One place where you can find them is Wellstar’s Consolidated Service Center—known to the team as the CSC. The 175,000-square-foot facility operates as a same-day delivery retailer, fulfilling orders for everything from medical supplies to printed materials for patients. The operation supplies Wellstar’s hospitals, health parks and other patient care locations.
The foundation for the important work done by one CSC team started more than two decades ago, when Wellstar partnered with Tommy Nobis Center.

How one fulfillment team provides Wellstar patients with compassionate care

Originally, Tommy Nobis team members carried out tasks for Wellstar at a separate location. Now, the team is an integrated part of Wellstar’s larger CSC team. They enter the building just like any other employee—with their own badges—and work alongside Wellstar colleagues daily.
“Wellstar has been our single greatest partner in our history,” said Dave Ward, Tommy Nobis Center president and CEO. “Wellstar leaders truly believe in the abilities of our teammates and have complete trust that they’re going to get the job done.”
Each Tommy Nobis team member works according to their abilities and unique skill set. They assemble kits with items like lotion, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste for patients who are admitted to the hospital. Some use pallet jacks to store and organize products. And some of the team help clean up, emptying bins and using a 40-foot compactor to dispose of cardboard.
“It’s a great team to work for and we always have each other’s backs,” said David Moss, Wellstar and Tommy Nobis team member.
Wellstar Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Director Kiran Takhar-Fenyoe noted that the CSC is only one of many locations across Wellstar that employ people with disabilities.
“We are inclusive in how we are recruiting across the spectrum of diversity, including disability,” she noted.
At the CSC, Wellstar works with Tommy Nobis Center to create new opportunities as technology evolves. The latest positions added are in quality control, working with advanced pick module technology.
No matter the role in which they work, Tommy Nobis team members consistently bring a high level of accuracy, commitment and joy to the workplace.
Wellstar CSC Executive Director Adam Flood said, “They are some of the most efficient and mistake-free team members we have here—and they smile more than anyone else.”
