Home IV Meds Strengthen the Heartbeat
When severe symptoms of heart failure put someone at a high risk for hospitalization or death, inotropic medication — or inotropes — can help. By strengthening the heart’s pumping action, inotropes help improve their symptoms and quality of life. Also known as heart pump medication, this therapy sometimes serves as a bridge to heart transplant or an LVAD.
