The Epilepsy and Seizures Program at Wellstar North Fulton Medical Center provides comprehensive care to help people manage seizures and epilepsy. The expert multidisciplinary team surrounds patients with support throughout their entire care journey, providing specialized treatment. Our in-hospital epilepsy monitoring unit uses advanced technology to diagnose and treat seizures.
What makes the Wellstar program unique is that patients benefit from having holistic care from a team of epilepsy and seizure care experts, including epileptologists—board-certified neurologists with advanced training, neuroradiologists, neuropsychologists, epilepsy nurse navigators and EEG technologists. The epilepsy team at Wellstar North Fulton works closely with a functional neurosurgeon at Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center.
Diagnosis & epilepsy monitoring unit
Our epilepsy and seizure experts use a range of tests to identify the type of seizure and the cause to determine the best treatment for you. Wellstar North Fulton has an inpatient epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) where patients can have specialized EEG testing closer to home. The painless test records the brain's electrical activity through electrodes attached to the head to help doctors determine if the brain's electrical activity is causing seizures. The results help your care team create a personalized plan so you can manage your seizures in the best possible way.
