Implantable Loop Recorder
Continuous heart monitoring helps heart specialists at Wellstar diagnose heart conditions like irregular heartbeats and unexplained fainting and stroke.
Continuous Heart Monitoring
How a loop recorder works
To implant the device, you’ll undergo a minor surgical procedure. An electrophysiologist will implant the device—about the size of a flattened AA battery—under the skin of your chest. Any changes in your heartbeat are immediately recorded no matter when they occur.
You’ll also receive a transmitter, which sends recorded information directly to your heart care team automatically every night. You can push a button at any time to activate an information transfer if you have noticeable symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness or shortness of breath.
Without wires or clunky devices to carry, the loop recorder will not interfere with daily activities. You can swim and shower without any concern.
