Wellstar Radiation Oncology

Our patients have access to the highest standard of care by highly experienced radiation oncologists who employ a range of advanced techniques and technologies. Wellstar radiation oncologists work as part of a greater multidisciplinary team including medical oncologists, surgical oncologists and surgeons in many specialties, genetic specialists and more. The Radiation Oncology team at Wellstar North Fulton Medical Center collaborates with cancer support teams, such as oncology dietitians, social workers, nurse navigators, and the outpatient chaplain in order to support the patient within a multidisciplinary manner. We believe in doing what’s best for the patient.

Advanced technology & techniques

Wellstar North Fulton Medical Center is one of only a few sites in Georgia offering CyberKnife, a state-of-the-art robotic radiosurgery system. The advanced system uses high-tech computer software, a robotic arm and a miniature linear accelerator to deliver large doses of radiation in a pencil-thin beam. Some radiation oncologists on our team perform intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) together with a surgeon. A surgeon removes the tumor and a radiation oncologist directly applies radiation while the patient is asleep in the operating room.

Our patients are cared for by medical professionals who have the highest level of training in the field, including board-certified medical physicists, board-certified medical dosimetrists, board-certified radiation therapists and oncology-certified registered nurses. This means the people we treat can expect the highest standard of care. Additionally, our team is highly experienced, treating patients every day in our high-volume center. Patients with cancer can have better outcomes when they are treated by radiation oncologists with a depth of experience.
