Volunteering is a fun activity, with lots of hospital exposure. However, it is also a serious commitment. VolunTeens provide hundreds of hours of valuable service to our patients, visitors and team members. Wellstar Douglas Medical Center offers volunteer opportunities in a variety of settings, including, but not limited to, customer service, clinical and non-clinical departments, patient transport and wayfinding.
The VolunTeen program is for high school students aged 15-18 interested in a career in healthcare. Please note that the teen program is competitive. We offer limited spots to the most qualified applicants. The selection process requires a 15-minute interview, which will occur in April or early May. If you are selected for an interview, you will receive a formal email with all pertinent details. If accepted into the program, you must attend a 2-hour mandatory orientation session and complete all remaining required paperwork. We will offer two evening orientation date options to choose from to aid in your busy schedules from school. A parent will be required to attend with you as the first ten minutes will address frequently asked parent questions and ensure they have signed additional documents.
