Robert Willson, MD

Dr. Willson is an orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine. He started his education at the University of Georgia, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in public health. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia followed by postdoctoral training in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. He trained at the University of Connecticut Sports Medicine Fellowship and continues a relationship with the program as he continues to practice in Augusta. Dr. Willson’s areas of interest include shoulder instability, ligament reconstruction and care of the overhead athlete, and his research has been presented at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons as well as the New England Shoulder and Elbow Society meetings. He holds operative privileges at both Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center in Augusta and Surgery Center of Columbia County in Evans.
