I was asked, somewhat off handedly, if I was okay with a student doctor joining my appointment. I didn't have much time to consider it but said okay. I was surprised when the student entered without the midwife and performed part of the exam solo. I wasn't expecting that. The care was good and the student was professional. I just would have preferred to have it explained that this student isn't just observing but providing care and at times independently. That's a different question and should have been asked. Patients are wearing almost nothing and feeling vulnerable so it isn't the time for them to be surprised by what is going to happen in the exam. Again, the care was satisfactory. But the question wasn't phrased correctly so I didn't consent to a student examining me without supervision by the provider I had an appointment with. I might have said yes but I was not told exactly what was going to happen. I thought my provider would just have a student with her. That's what I agreed to. More clarity should be provided around this to allow a fully informed decision.

The nurse's assistant was kind of confusing when addressing me initially, asking me about my previous issues, which were incorrect. She seemed a little uninformed and was having difficulty finding the baby's heartbeat at first. But Dr. Rebecca was great and she was able to find the baby's heartbeat very quickly. Yeah.

I wish they would prescribe or refill my inhaler especially since my asthma is currently pregnancy induced, but they told me to refer to allergy/prescribing provider regarding it which is understandable I guess, but I did not have this issue at Wellstar Douglas.
