About Raul Oyola, MD
Dr. Oyola is a native of the country of Colombia where in 1990 he received his medical degree with honors at the Metropolitan University in Barranquilla, Colombia. In July 1992, he came to the United States to continue his studies in medicine as a resident in internal medicine at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, University Hospital of the State University of New York in Brooklyn. Dr. Oyola went on to complete his fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.
Upon completion of his fellowship in 2001, Dr. Oyola joined Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers, P.C. at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he currently evaluates and treats patients while actively participating in Clinical Trials and Research as Co-PI for NGOC clinical trials.
Dr. Oyola is the past chairman Wellstar Health System Cancer Committee and Wellstar Cobb Hospital Credentials Committee. He is currently serving as part of the Wellstar Oncology Cabinet. He is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the Cobb County Medical Society and the Medical Association of Georgia.

Honestly, I have been receiving care in the Wellstar system for years, and this is the first time I feel disappointed. I am going through one of the most difficult times regarding my health, and I have fully trusted the doctors recommended by my surgeon, but I truly felt let down by the recommendation and the lack of empathy shown by this particular doctor. He didn't even have the professionalism to discuss the lab results he himself ordered. I am going to cancel my next appointment and will look for other alternatives for my follow-up. I hope they can resolve and adjust whatever needs to be adjusted so that we, the patients, can trust the healthcare system, in this case, the Medical Oncology department.

Great as usual, but one small complaint. The phlebotomist had trouble drawing my blood, so I went upstairs, and the phlebotomist there had trouble as well. I feel like they were both inexperienced, and It was uncomfortable being stuck multiple times in both arms. When I go to my primary care doctor's office, they never have issues. I would much rather have my blood taken there. I love my doctor (Oyola) and the staff, so NO complaints there!
