Dr. Martinez is a Vascular and Interventional Neurologist who specializes in treating blood vessel disorders of the brain and spine. His focus is on providing the best medical or minimally invasive surgical treatments for patients suffering from stroke, carotid stenosis, aneurysms, vascular malformations, and brain bleeding, among other disorders. He has a special interest in treatment of complex CSF disorders including idiopathic intracranial hypertension and spontaneous CSF leaks, as well as pulsatile tinnitus.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from medical school, Dr. Martinez completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at Johns Hopkins in Neuroscience developing novel patented technologies for treatment of brain disease. He then pursued Neurology residency at Harvard Medical School Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston where he continued as a Vascular Neurology Fellow focusing on stroke and cerebrovascular diseases. He then completed a second fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery / Interventional Neurology at UT Houston Memorial Hermann Hospital, one of the busiest Level 1 Trauma and Comprehensive Stroke Centers in the country. During his training he has been heavily involved in research with focus on genetics, AI in stroke, idiopathic intracranial hypertension or pseudotumor, brain aneurysms and minimally invasive treatments for brain bleeding, publishing numerous innovative manuscripts, book chapters and patents. He has also been part of many national clinical trials and was recruited to spearhead new innovative initiatives for clinical trial research at Wellstar. He practices at both Wellstar Kennestone and North Fulton medical centers.
