About Amy Elsass, MD
Dr. Elsass is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology. She completed her undergraduate degree at Albright College in Reading, Penn., and graduated from medical school at MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia. She completed an internal medicine residency at Duke University in Durham, N.C., and a Cardiovascular Disease fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. During fellowship, she developed an great interest in general interventional cardiology and went on to complete an interventional cardiology fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta.
Prior to joining Wellstar Medical Group, Cardiovascular Medicine in 2009 as an interventional cardiologist, she practiced for two years as an interventional cardiologist in Columbia, S.C., where she implemented a program for percutaneous structural heart disease intervention at Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital. She also started a program for cardiovascular disease in women. Dr. Elsass is on staff at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

Not a true fair assessment as this was the first visit. Waited close to an hour for to see dr after I was called back. Dr did listen closely, that was more evident when I read her notes in my chart after the visit, so it was appreciated and a good tool for patients to be familiar with. Due to family history and some reports on impacts of meds, I am hesitant on some medications. Some physicians are more understanding of that than others. Dr. Elsass didnt agree with my position but did give me options, so that was good. I am trying to learn more about the different medications and trying to change my diet/habits as much as I can instead of just taking pills, but realize that may not be enough - and hope docs will understand and be patient. Perhaps explain details more as we go along. Dr. Elsass did spend fair amount of time with me. I am working on questions - may try to look them up first or will get back with her. She was recommended by a friend.
