I've had hypothyroidism for 25 years and recognize the value of semiannual lab work to assist me and my doctor in maintaining appropriate levels of care. However, the WellStar policy requiring an office visit prior to ordering the labs serves absolutely no medical purpose, and in fact the only logical reason for this policy is to require an additional, unnecessary visit which results in only one useful outcome-more WellStar profit through wasteful billing. Because of this policy, and despite Dr. Catlett's excellent care, I will be finding another provider for myself and my family, where logic and common sense are applied in providing care. WellStar's wasteful policies will not cost me another dime. I look forward to providing my honest opinion of WellStar to any friends, family, or even strangers, who may benefit from my experience. Dr. Catlett was one of the best, most professional doctors I've worked with. It's a shame she's forced to abide the wasteful WellStar policies that provide no medical benefit but rather enrich the corporate coffers.
