About Ada Mercado, MD
A native of Puerto Rico, Dr. Ada Mercado received her undergraduate degree from InterAmerican University and attended medical school at Pedro Henríquez Ureña. She completed her internal medicine residency in the Mayagüez Medical Center and her cardiovascular disease fellowship at Ponce School of Medicine & Health Sciences St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital. Dr. Mercado then completed an echocardiography fellowship at Tulane and Louisiana State University in New Orleans, LA. She also completed nuclear cardiology training at Emory University in Atlanta.
Dr. Mercado is board-certified in cardiovascular disease. She is a member of the American College of Cardiology and American Echcoardiography Society. Her special interests include general cardiology, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiogram, and nuclear cardiology.
She joined Wellstar in January 2011 from the Atlanta Heart Center where she was a founding physician in 2002.

I left there feeling like the doctor really heard me today and was very concerned about me. I really just hate the fact that it will take a month to get the test. I have been dealing with this chest pain since the 13th of December. Sometimes it's hard to understand why it takes so long to get these tests. But that has nothing to do with the doctor's office my doctor's visit was fine

The facility was clean & the service was very professional. You felt at home as soon as you arrived. Staff greeting you welcomed. Did not have to wait at all, which is extremely unusual for a doctor's office. The tech as well as the doctor were very experienced & efficient.

Only reason I said 9 was because this is my first time meeting Dr. Mercado. She was most helpful, showed that she understood why I was consulting her and gave me good information about steps moving forward.

It's extremely stressful to always have the practice running late with appts. We schedule time off to visit Dr based on appointment times and when your time comes and goes by 30 mins to 1 hr causes me to be late getting back to work. It's disrespectful to patients to always overbook and run so far behind
