Education

Education

WellStar's mission to improve the health and well-being of the individuals we serve is realized through our comprehensive diabetes education classes and programs.

Education is an exceptionally effective tool to help people, affected by diabetes, successfully manage their disease and avoid diabetes complications. A team of highly trained Certified Diabetes Educators at WellStar helps people face the challenges of living with diabetes.

How many questions do you have about diabetes? WellStar's many educational offerings--both during a hospital stay and in an outpatient setting--have the answers.

In order to accommodate participants' schedules, WellStar self-management classes are offered frequently. WellStar's diabetes education program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association. The classes are taught by registered nurses, registered dietitians and a licensed social worker. A physician's referral is required. Guests are welcome.

Most insurance companies and Medicare cover outpatient classes for diabetes education.
