Libby Brumby, born April 20, 2010, is a legacy WellStar baby – 13 members of her family, including her father, four aunts and eight cousins, were also born at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Proud parents Ashley and Otis Brumby, III, never doubted that they’d go to WellStar.
“Kennestone has a great reputation and delivers a high level of care. And it’s right
in our backyard – we live five doors down from the hospital,” said Otis.
Ashley was under the care of WellStar OB/GYN Randy Webb, M.D., throughout
her pregnancy. “When we went to the hospital, we were going for Ashley to be induced. But once the contractions started, the baby became distressed, and they ended up having to do an emergency Caesarean section. The surgical team did an unbelievable job,” Otis remembers. “It was one of those things – it seemed like doctors and nurses came from everywhere! Then we were in the operating room and maybe 30 minutes later, Libby was born.
“We hadn’t been expecting a Caesarean section, but the doctors – especially
Dr. Marcia Little, who delivered Libby – really put us at ease.“Afterwards, everybody was great. Ashley stayed in the hospital for three nights and the nurses couldn’t have been more helpful.
They gave us lots of first-time parent advice, which was reassuring. And Ashley and Libby are healthy and happy. Libby’s even sleeping 12 hours a night! We’ve been very fortunate.”
